Today is another full day first we visit the granite quarries where we will see the unfinished obelisk which cracked before completion just thinking about how it was done is mind boggling…..then a boat ride to see the temple of Philae also saved from the rising water of the damn … this temple is not as old as Rameses II built with the Greek influences our guide has been very informative he is Nubian and has lots to say about Nubian rights and how the Dam has effected the Nubian people. After a stop at the hotel for lunch we were off again this time in a traditional sail boat then transferring to a motor boat that took us to a traditional Nubian town where we did some shopping … we saw a 10 year old boy driving one of the tuck tuck pickups with a couple girls around the same age in the bed he was not a good driver he backed into a parked motorcycle and continued … Scott tried to save the motorcycle from getting bounced on the ground then a couple of men raced over … we then motored back to the hotel. We are staying an extra night because the weather in Cyprus is bad ….I finished watching “death on the Nile “ what a campy movie all these older actors using really bad accents … they all sound the same . The scenery was the hotel we were staying in and the pyramids and temples we had been to and the boats on the Nile we had also been on. It was fun. It was an Agatha Christy story …..we finally got off to Cyprus …..for only one night…
